July Sailing Trip

Took a break between exams to sail a week in July, the pics are not fantastic but I figured I'd share anyway.

Day 1.

Leaving the marina at 6 AM.

Passing Dordrecht on our way north to Amsterdam

'waterbus'

The rozzers

Random bridge we passed

Oceanco warf, usually there is some huge kickass yacht moored there but sadly not that day

Customs hard at work..

Day 2.

The canal we followed up to Amsterdam

Passerby on a bike, pretty windy that day like the rest of the week.

Typical view

The boat in Amsterdam

Every night yachts travel in an organized convoy through the Amsterdam canals, I didn't take any pics of that because it rained way too hard.

After 2 hours of sleep who pushed further north, but the weather worsened drastically throughout the morning. The windspeed meter indicated over 40m/s in some gusts (90+ mph) so we decided call it a day by noon. Spent the rest of that day sleeping so no pics of day 3 either.

Day 4

Much better weather, leaving Enkhuizen in the morning

Crowd at the locks of Kornwederzand

To give you guys some idea what's it like to go through Amsterdam at night by boat; here's a pic from flickr.

When the weather is ok it's pretty rad because usually the city is still very much alive with people going to or coming from parties, having parties and whatnot so we tend to crank up the music and have a good time.

I'll try to dig up a map and outline the route we took.

Edit - here's a map with a rough outline of the route.

cool photos. I dont really get the map though. Did you only sail through canals until you got to Kornwederzand? ( it looks like you were sailing through land?? )
