I live in Bilbao (well my parents) and I have close family with a house in Elciego, Bilbao has the Guggenheim and Elciego the winery, both from Gehry. If you pass near PM me.

what happened to san sebastian? its about 4 hour drive from barcelona and, after 5 trips on the paid highway there, i've never seen one cop.

To go for 1-2 nights didnt seem worth it due to the driving distance - am i wrong to think that? And is renting a car just to go there worth it?

Yes - sort of. My girlfriend and I will do Spain for a week just the two of us and then fly to Munich where we meet up with some friends for hte weekend - then she flies home and i train it to Stuttgart

That sounds awesome. I would love to add some more travel to the front or back end of the trip, but not sure if I can. Still a little while before I plan it all out.

UPDATE: Decided against 'leaving' Barcelona for a side trip and we are going to spend our entire time in Spain in the city. A few nights a few different hotels/sections of the city to get some different perspectives.....should be really fun. Researching cool places to eat and visit now. Very excited
