NYC Hotel Ideas?

TS,

Heading up to NYC/CT for a wedding in a few months and planning on extending the trip a few days to catch a Yankees game (never been) and chill in NYC for a day.

I have been to NY many times and seem to be in a rut with hotels/etc.....any fresh places you guys like to stay in?

For reference i just stayed in the Tribeca Grand Hotel and the Soho Grand Hotel and both were cool/my style. I looked into the Mandarin Oriental but room prices are a bit steep for my tastes ($800 and up!).

Any ideas???

Thanks!!

Ahhh thanks man. Was wondering if you were going to chime in. I will peep both of these for that weekend and see which works for me. Much appreciate the ideas. Traveling to NYC (or anywhere really) i tend to get stuck in a rut with my "old fav's" but really enjoy branching out and trying new spots.

The meatpacking standard has a note on the bed requesting you do your thang with the curtains closed as everyone on the highline would see you do the helicopter.

If you can get one of the 1000s rooms in the LES (Corner rooms) then they look something like this:

These are all I can think of (different parts of town and styles, assuming you arent in the mood for uptown ... cause thats for old white people so the carlyle is out) that I would actually recommend on any given day:

(the Thompsons and Standards from above +)
Gild Hall
Smyth
The London
The Nolitan
The Mandarin Oriental (duh, buts its really nice)
The W UnionSquare (ditto)
Gramercy Park Hotel
Ace Hotel

these span the location/price gamut so enjoy :-)

Some of the Morgans Hotels are nice as well.

I enjoyed the Hudson when I was there in the past.

I would second the London and the Standard. Both have nice bars in hotel.

+1 on the Hudson, hip spot but teeny rooms
