In London for 3 nights...which part of the city to stay in?

I'll be in London for 3 nights, and a friend and I are booking a hostel. There is one that looks good in knightsbridge, will we have a good time staying there? Easy to get into the heart of the city? Or should we consider one of the hostels on oxford street (or thereabouts)?

It looks like knightsbridge is only a couple of miles from the center of london, but I've never been to london and honestly don't know anything about it or getting around there. Any advice is appreciated.

Also, is there anything we can't miss in london? We're only there for a few days so we didn't bother planning or booking anything, but I don't want to waste an opportunity.

I would reccomend you to stay around Knighstbridge, Mayfair, Kensington or BaysWater. You will be close to the heart of the city basically 75% of the areas because transportation is very easy through the Tube.

Get the Oyster Card and top it up, it can be used for the tube and the bus.

Thanks for the advice, we booked a hostel in knightsbridge. Looks like it should be easy to get to and from the airport and it's close to some cool stuff. I'm excited to check out London, albeit briefly.

Haha! I'll definitely take some pictures, it's overwhelming trying to figure out what to see in London, especially with only 3 days.

Enjoy but be warned - you're here during the busiest time of the year - expect everywhere to be rammed and a nightmare.

Yeah, it's our third night, we're in for now. Spent the last few days and nights renting those barclays bikes and getting lost. It's been a good time, saw a bunch of cool cars, went through a few different parks, and made friends with some guy at a tesco express hah.

Overall, London is much different than I expected, but we've had a fun considering we didn't plan anything before arriving. Off to Germany tomorrow!
