Yea I don't trust Spain either, they're definitely in cahoots with Greece, Portugal and the rest of the failing world.

Axman!
I'm sorry for my late input (thanks Gray!
). I was raised in Barcelona and lived there for 13 years. For me, it's the best city in the world, and I think you've made a great choice to choose it as your destination.
There are many things to do and explore in Barcelona. As you explore the city, you'll realize the attention to details in almost everything in Barcelona, from the buildings, benches, fountains, light poles make it a city where you cannot get bored. Everything is just artsy.
A good start would be visiting the unfinished cathedral La Sagrada Familia and the Picasso Museum, possibly the two best touristic (art) attractions.
You also need to visit Park Guell which basically is a park/garden designed by Gaudi. Then there's Montjuic; a hill that overlooks the city of Barcelona. Make sure you don't forget your camera cause the sight from up there is simply amazing. Check La Rambla as well, it's a street full of local stores. You'll also find a lot of performers right there on the street which can be entertaining.
I highly recommend you eat at a restaurant called El Cangrejo Loco and Siete Puertas. Those two are top notch Spanish cuisine restaurants, and you definitely won't be disappointed. Also, go to a restaurant called La Pepita. I haven't been there but I've heard great reviews about it. I'm sure you won't forget to try tapas, because they're all over the place! :P
What I mentioned are the things you shouldn't miss. I haven't been there in a long time, and I'm sure there are many more things to do and see. If you want, PM me and I'll ask my family and friends for further details.
Have a great time!
PS: Let me know if you can find me a 00/01 Real Madrid jersey with FIGO "10" printed on the back.
