You should definitely try to check out Tokyo if you can.

 

Right now Tokyo is still a consideration, but my friend is trying to keep the budget down as he has been traveling quite a bit this year already, so it may not happen.

Australia was what we were thinking when we first discussed it, and we're strongly considering it now. I still want to spend a few days in europe as I've never been. I may have to take you up on that Marlin fishing, Speed888!

 

If January is your travel time, I'd definitely plan destinations south of the equator.
Brazil is great, Bali sounds better, Oz would be high on the list

By what stroke of luck did you manage free tickets, not sky miles if you're responsible for taxes, are they?

With all the suggestions for Australia I think we're going to have to do it!

As far as the tickets, I believe they are part of the Sky Miles program and are based on the Sky Miles credit card. I could look into it more, but being offered a mostly free "companion" ticket was good enough for me hah.

Going to Europe in winter is not the same experience as june/july.

i say this a lot and I will say it one more time, you can't go wrong with thailand.

 

Well, we couldn't get a flight to Australia that fit our time frame (they were all booked).

So we booked a trip to fly into Dusseldorf. From there we plan to drive down to Malaga and eventually into Morocco. The weather may not be the best, but we couldn't be more excited.

Thanks for all the advice and tips everyone, it'll come in handy for future trips I'm sure!

 

how about attending a Formula 1 Race such as Yas Island, Abu Dhabi UAE ?
