Fourteen mountain passes in four days
You may have noticed a while ago I posted a thread inviting Teamspeeders on tis trip. Well, we've just returned from an epic 2,500 mile journey that took in fourteen mountain passes in four days. We staying in some nice hotels too - from Columbus in Monaco to Ville e Palazzo Aminta in Lake Maggiore.
The passes we drove are:
- Route Napoléon
- Monaco (Street Circuit)
- Col de Turini
- Valley Mesolcina
- San Bernadino Pass
- Splugen Pass
- Rofla Gorge
- Julier Pass
- Albula Pass
- Tiefencastel to Davos
- Flüelapass
- Offenpass
- Stelvio Pass
- Umbrailpass
- Oberalp/Rhine Gorge Valley
- St Gottard Pass
- Furka Pass
- Grimsel Pass
- Susten Pass
My favourite? Hard to pick - they all had amazing qualities. The Col di Turini was pretty special though, along with Umbrailpass and Flüelapass. The Stelvio Pass was fun, as always, but boy was it cold. Snow in July? Having left Lake Maggiore in the morning we all looked quite daft in shorts atop the Stelvio that evening.
I was driving the Panamera 4S as I had all of the camera and film gear to carry, but we just about managed to keep up with the GT3 RS, Lotus Evora IPS and Aston Martin V8 Roadster. Rost, we missed you in your GT3 chap - you would've had a great time! There are three whole galleries of images on the Gentleman Drivers Club website. I hope you like the pics.
