i am 99% certain that in qatar, as in kuwait, all restaurants and cafes would be closed until sunset (prayers, until you can break your fast)

check with our qatari friends to make sure that you can still shop around and stuff like that in the mornings

BUT, it might be more than frowned upon to drink/eat in public before sunset

good luck!

This year we break the fast at 7pm, so its going to be pretty boring and hot if all cafe's and restaurants are closed during the day. Not sure what other things you can do besides shopping, cinema and, beach and offroading.

Well...i can not imagine that at all. Why? Because qatar wants to become a tourist attractive country so they cant really close every restaurant or cafes.Same thing in Daubai (where i will be as well). And i dont really want to visit Doha to eat and drink,so i dont really care if the restaurants are closed or not.During the day i plan to visit the pearl, museums or the villagio mall.

No quite,
In the hotels they will still serve food during the day
Even in the big hotels in Doha you will not be able to get a drink during Ramadan

What are you going to do on holiday in Doha during Ramadan? It's not like you will be able to sit by a pool (even if they let you it will be 45 degrees)

Its really not like the whole country is "dead" during ramadan.Of course malls will be open and i will be able to buy food as a tourist!!
Please dont scare me...
I know a lot of people that have been to the emirates during ramadan and they didn´t even notice it.And yeah well the heat...i mean i have been to death valley (and Las Vegas of course) and it was very hot indeed. But after 1 or 2 days it was alright.

We are leaving June 11th on a 3 week vacation. We will be spending 4 nights in Doha. We are staying at the W. Some friends stayed there and they really like the modern design of the Hotel, rooms and the great service.

Sorry but i have to bring this threat back up.
So i still havent booked any hotel. But i now have 3 Hotels to choose from.
First of all the W Doha (wich you guys recommended),the Movenpick Tower and the Grand Hyatt. All these Hotels have the same rates and the same standart. The Grand Hyatt is pretty close to The Pearl.Do you think its worth it to book a hotel wich is close to the pearl?Or is the whole west bay area to far away from "other attractions"?

Well..thanks for your help everybody.I now booked the Hyatt wich is very close to the pearl. It cost just as much as the W Hotel.I think this Hotel is a good choice.
