Welcome after to F1 Today....... you heard it first here on Teamspeed many days ago.....

Hamilton signs for Mclaren
"Lewis Hamilton has signed a contract for next season to return to his old team McLaren and spear head their new era with old partners Honda. The Brit has been battling all season long with team-mate Nico Rosberg for this years World title and only one of them can win it. As it currently stands, Hamilton is first with a ten point lead over Rosberg in the championship standings.

The pair have had a season of tension between them, with Belgium hitting the peak when Rosberg gave Hamilton a puncture after the pair clash on the second lap, which caused the Brit to retire later on in the race. Hamilton then claimed Rosberg admitted to doing it on purpose to prove a point, in which Nico denied the allegations.

Questions and rumours have been flying around the paddock all season about the Mercedes duo and in the latter part, the driver market.

F1Today.net has had sources reveal to them that Hamilton visited the Woking base three weeks ago to sign for the team starting from next season. The source said: "Lewis was in the Woking factory three weeks ago. He arrived by helicopter, had a conversation about two hours with the management and then left with a big smile on his face. He signed here, I can assure you. A seat fitting has not happened yet, but that will take place in the foreseeable future."

Another question that is being asked is who will leave McLaren but it is looking like the Woking based team will keep rookie Kevin Magnussen for a second season and ship 2009 World Champion, Jenson Button out. Rumours say that the Brit has been offered by Porsche to race for them in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) next season."

Yesterday we heard about Hamilton and his return to McLaren, but today Maurice Hamilton has published something interesting in his ESPN blog.

And a guy like maurice Hamilton is a guy I listen to.... carefully.

But only time will tell...

Vettel and Alonso: The next McLaren dream team?

"I have it on good authority that both Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso recently flew into Farnborough on different days. On each occasion, they were scooped up by Mercedes vehicles and whisked away without ceremony. The McLaren Technology Centre is 15 miles east of the private airport.

Do you see where I'm coming from? Or, more to the point, where they might have been going to? To the best of my knowledge, neither Seb or Fernando have relatives or mates in Surrey they might have been calling on for afternoon tea.

The obvious implication is that McLaren were/are talking to the drivers individually. But here's a thought: An Alonso/Vettel partnership in the mould of Senna/Prost is the sort of thing Ron Dennis dreams of and perhaps explains what I thought to be a contented look during his interview with Martin Brundle for Sky F1 last weekend.

Thinking about it further, Vettel has not actually said he's going to Ferrari; Christian Horner has done it for him - but mainly through innuendo. On the other hand, Ferrari's Marco Mattiacci made no comment, which suggests discussions with Vettel are on-going. Were that not the case and a McLaren/Vettel deal had been done, Mattiacci would surely have issued a strong rebuttal, if only to take the heat off the inference that Sebastian would be replacing Fernando.

Forget the thought that Alonso wouldn't want to return to McLaren after the debacle over Spygate. Fernando is, above all, a ruthless pragmatist, as is Dennis. The 2007 season was a long time ago in racing terms and, as Sir Frank Williams used to say when a fib had been exposed: "circumstances change".

The biggest change, of course, is the return of Honda in 2015. This may not be 1988 when Honda arrived at McLaren and swept all before them; the competition is ten times stronger for a start and the power unit package infinitely more complex. But word has it that the work done so far in Japan is mighty impressive and Honda have had more technical freedom than Mercedes, Renault and Ferrari to incorporate the latest know-how into the 2015 power unit. As Dennis said in the Sky F1 interview: "Honda's commitment is mind-blowing. The engine is a piece of jewellery. It's performing better than expected by this time in the development programme. The competitiveness of the engine is going to be, without question, for 2015."

In any case, McLaren-Honda has to be a better potential bet than Ferrari in its current state. Which leads to the obvious question: why on earth would Vettel want to go to Maranello right now? Personally, I don't believe the cache of racing for Ferrari is a strong enough incentive, although I do agree there would be some merit in wishing to get away from the smiling and very quick Daniel Ricciardo at the other side of the Red Bull garage.

So, how about a move to McLaren-Honda instead, even if Alonso is in the other car? Racing drivers being racing drivers, Vettel will believe he can beat Fernando just as surely as Alonso thinks he could see off Seb. You have to say it was 50-50 when they were at each other's throats during that terrific struggle at Silverstone.

"We want the most competitive drivers available," Dennis told Brundle in response to a question about Alonso. "Of course, Fernando is one of them. I've talked to every driver in the pit lane - well, let's say, at the top end of the pit lane. There is no impediment to Lewis coming back, Fernando coming back, Jenson and Kevin staying. We have options."

Dennis then rounded off his interview (the full 42-minute version is well-worth watching, by the way) with a telling comment when discussing McLaren drivers past and present.

"What a privilege to work with so many world champions, share the successes and see them win in a McLaren car," said Ron. "It's just great." Then a brief pause, before adding with that wolfish grin. "And it's going to happen again in the future."

Alonso and Vettel? You can bet it's crossed Ron's mind more than once.

The Arab playboys

They will have a MUCH more difficult time in the future, to the point where they stay away. The French are so tired of them. They are unwelcome guests....

Revealed: How Arab playboys fly their supercars into London on chartered cargo jets (for the trifling sum of €25,000 per vehicle)

Cars are flown distances of around 3,000 miles in planes such as the Qatar Airways Airbus A330. With its wheels firmly held in place, a Mercedes-Benz prepares for transport aboard a cargo plane.

In similar fashion, supercars ranging from Ferraris to Lamborghinis take to the skies each year as rich Arab playboys bring their vehicles from the Middle East to Europe, usually for just a few weeks over summer.

The car owners, many of them from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Kuwait, will happily pay a small fortune - in excess of €25,000 for a return journey - for their metal marvels to be flown around 3,000 miles, and often leave them parked up on the streets of Cannes and Monaco.

Qatar Airways is one such airline that ships the luxury cars from Doha. Secured to the floor of one of their Airbus A330s, the precious cargo can either be accommodated in a single row or in a side-by-side configuration. Using their main and lower deck, the airline offers 31 positions on each flight.

Daniel Hallworth, managing director of Dan Car Logistics, which specialises in air freight: 'The Arabs often use agents to arrange their cars to be flown to Europe - and some of these guys can have two or three cars that they bring over for just one month.

'Once here, they can legally drive it for up to two months. Some of the over-the-top autos attract the attention of the police too - due to incorrect registration plates and insurance or parking regulation breaches.

Residents in Cannes have complained that some drivers are allegedly behaving in an anti-social manner, revving the cars and treating the exclusive area as their personal racetrack.

The French Rivera. The truth.

Here in this thread you have all seen the nice automotive exotics & super yachts in Monaco, pop stars shopping in Nice, the beautiful supermodels - female movie stars at the Film Festival in Cannes and the azure blue water at the surrounding beaches of St.-Tropez. But under the surface, everything is quite different from what it appears to be....

The French Riviera is definitively not what it used to be. Follow this series, to learn about what is really going on....I call it ...."The French Rivera. The truth."

Invasion of the pickpockets: Disturbing pictures show Eastern European gangs brazenly targeting victims in broad daylight on French Riviera streets.

Stalking their prey around they will stop at nothing to intimidate and steal. These disturbing pictures showing gangs from Romania and Bulgaria operating on the French Riviera. Brazenly targeting their victims in broad daylight at cashpoints, on crowded pavements and in parks, the increasingly aggressive gangs are causing chaos and misery.

Police patrols have had to be dramatically increased. Countless thefts are being carried out every day by members of the gangs, many of whom are barely teenagers. President Francois Hollande’s Socialist government came to power, promising to rehouse the Roma and integrate them into society. But, having criticised the Centre-Right government of predecessor Nicolas Sarkozy for treating immigrants too harshly, Hollande is now facing up to political reality.

Interior minister Manuel Valls has ordered police to dismantle the Roma gipsies’ camps and shanty towns without rehousing them, and he has expelled more Roma from France than Sarkozy did.

Last year, nearly 13,000 Romanians and Bulgarians were deported from France, an increase of 18.4 per cent on the previous year. Threats to public health, a dramatic increase in crime and disruption on the streets as a result of the influx of immigrants from the two countries. Crime - particularly prostitution - is on the increase in areas where the newcomers have settled.

In Nice, Cannes etc , a favourite trick of the child gangs is to approach tourists with a fake ‘petition’ to sign while they are withdrawing money from cash machines. Distracted by the approach, victims do not see the thieves noting their pin number and then pick-pocketing cash cards to withdraw money for themselves.

‘Do you speak English?’ is another opening gambit used on tourists, as the gang members help themselves to money and possessions, often without their victims even noticing. Otherwise, they just steal cash and valuables direct while people are sitting in parks or on the tramway.

Some will have been among the 1,769 minors detained by French police for committing similar crimes in 2012, but even if caught they are released within a few hours. There’s very little we can do with them,’ admitted a police source. ‘As children, they effectively have absolute immunity from prosecution. Much of the money they make ends up with the adult gangmasters who run them. They are much harder to catch because they hide away in the shadows.’

The Arabs

Looks like the younger Arabic wannabe playboys from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait etc - with their anti-social manners and supercars paid by their fathers - are trying to copy their Royalty.....

Interesting reading to put it mildly:

The excessive Arab lifestyle

French Riviera
The Mediterranean resort towns of France are popular vacationing spots for the Saudi royal family. These aren’t your regular family vacations; they involve staying at private palaces, having an entourage of hundreds of workers and spending millions each month.

The previous king, Fahd bin Abdul Aziz was known for his extravagant vacations. Luxury villas and hundreds of rooms in five-star hotels like the hotel Carlton, hotel Martines etc would be reserved for his entourage, and anywhere between ninety to three hundred million dollars would be spent by the royal family on the vacation.

The yacht "The Kingdom"
Powerful Saudi royals can be seen living it up on the French Riviera. They fly on private jets (Boing 747 and several others), buy the finest jewels and dine at exclusive restaurants. Saudi prince al Walid bin Talal has summered in Cannes for the last thirty years, and owns a 281 foot yacht called “the Kingdom” that he bought from Donald Trump. The yacht comes complete with a disco studio and helicopter.

Shopping
Examples of extravagance include one Saudi prince buying a $ 1.2 million emerald and diamond necklace, while a Saudi princess purchased a $10,000 Christian Lacroix outfit with pink and purple raccoon boas.

Property
Saudi royalty has property in most countries in the world including Pakistan where they have built huge walled compounds for themselves in which they do as they please. They visit the area once a year, usually during the hunting season. Their excesses know no bounds.

Prostitution
Several media outlets reported that a British agency provides large groups of women to accompany the Saudi men during their vacations, on two conditions: the women must be young and blonde, and must be replaced every fifteen days.

Drug smuggling
Prince Nayef bin Fawwaz Al Shalaan has been sentenced by French court to 10 years in prison for smuggling two tons of cocaine from Colombia via Paris on the royal 727 jet, but he is outside the reach of law on Saudi soil. The Saudi interior minister threatened to cancel lucrative business deals if the narcotics investigation continued, and the case was swept under the carpet. Thus not only do these royals have obscenely extravagant vacations, they also don’t have to adhere to any law or regulation as they have immunity as a result of their formidable influence backed up by oil money.

Wealth
All this plundering of national wealth is being done in the backdrop of plunging per capita incomes, discrimination, segregation, human rights violations, corruption, terrorist threats, high unemployment rates, repressive and inaccurate interpretation of Islamic law and lack of freedom. The royal family functions in total isolation and seems to be far removed from the plight of the common man. Protest is dealt with aggressively and criticism is censured immediately. It is no wonder that frustration among the population is growing and more and more people are turning to more radical outlets. While people starve in the streets and languish in prison because of injustices perpetuated by the monarchy, the princes’ sip cocktails on their yachts in the ports of the French Riviera with money that belongs to the people. How this is allowed to continue is beyond comprehension.

Described as the 15th richest man in the world at an estimated $ 27 billion net worth, Prince al Walid defended the riches of the Saudi royal family, as well as their spending habits. "Wealth is a blessing," he said. "You know if wealth is used properly, it is not abused but rather used, there's nothing wrong with that." According to them the proper use of the Islamic Republic of Saudi Arabia’s money is traveling by private jets to exotic locations, staying in private palaces, buying jewels and branded goods, womanizing and drinking, and abusing the rule of law.

World of luxury - The Principality of Monaco

Monaco, the second smallest country in the world, by size, is not so much a place as it is a phenomenon. A tiny cliffside principality tucked between France and Italy, the Maritime Alps and the Mediterranean Sea, Monaco has always put other monied European playgrounds such as Gstaad, Ibiza, and Lake Como into the shade.

Monaco may be smaller than London’s Hyde Park, but with 33,000 residents that hail from 125 nations, it is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. The home of royalty and the playground of the rich and famous, the city-state is a super-rich mega-millionaire and billionaire haven that consequently boasts some of the highest real estate prices in the world.

Fashionable high society has been drawn to Monaco for centuries. The celebrated Belle Epoque Casino de Monte Carlo was opened after the principality introduced gaming in 1865 and today it remains just about the most sumptuous and ornate gambling hall in the world. If you are going to win big, this is the place to do it.

Monaco is the land of superyachts, supercars, super casinos and the super rich. It is a place where you can expect to find a Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano parked by the Marina at night. Known as Europe’s tax haven, each and every individual citizen of Monaco enjoys a tax-free lifestyle since the 1870s. If you want to experience luxury nirvana, Monaco delivers. This is where the wealthiest of the elite ‘beau mode’ flock from all over the world.
