This is where we are staying in Taiwan

After the disappinting stay at the Shangrila Taipei last time despite the ridiculous price for Asian standard, we were told by people in Taipei to try this place. Shangrila is in a great neighborhood, but frankly, the room was quite plain and nothing to write home about, not to mention small. This new hotel is at the Taiwan University, huge college town with boatloads of food at all hours.

It's a bi level hotel room with the bedroom on the second level (same floor) with two bathrooms and a living room. The two bathroom is a must since one of them will be used as baby scud's bedroom so he can go to bed at his regular 7:30PM and sleep through the night. This arrangement worked well in Maui for us.

I am going to get so fat eating my way through Taipei.

Awesome, I was describing to someone tonight how much I want to get back to southeast asia (it didn't look like she was listening though). I miss that part of the world after having such an amazing time in Hong Kong.

My favorite so far has got to be the harbor view suite at the Pennisula HK and the Suite at the old Raffles in Singapore.

I so need to make sure I use the gym when I am in Taipei, or I am going to gain so much weight eating all that food I posted.

southeast asia is awesome, Thailand is my short vacation destination, was there twice last year and will be going there again soon.

Stuka, would you recommend Taiwan? when is the best time of the year to be there?

Same as Thailand, avoid the monsoon season.

Taipei is like a clean version of Bangkok, but it is more expensive than Bangkok.

Where do you stay in Thailand? I am really bummed that I probably can't go this time because of the red shirts.

Don't worry about the red shirts, just stay away from BK.

I usually start in Phuket, I stay in a place called "The Village - coconut Island", its a private Island 5 minutes outside phuket by boat taxi, private villa's with privet beach and infinity pool in every villa, very quite and private, 15 minute drive from the pear to Bangla road where the party is.

I usually charter a speed boat and head out to other islands from there or to go Diving, the price is decent, a bit pricey compared to the other places in phuket but the privacy is worth it.
