How much time do I need to experience Rome
Planning my euro-trip 2009 for the wifey and I and we are pretty set on Italy and Spain this year. Neither of us have ever been to Rome (well she was there for a day in college but didn't see much) and we want to make sure that we experience Rome well. Is 3 days enough to see the major sites or would we be better off with 4?
In Spain we will hit Granada, Cordoba, and Marbella/Puerto Banus. If we take an extra day away from Rome we will probably end up in Barcelona for the last day of our trip.
Thanks

4 days? I suppose it's enough if you do the main touristy things ...
Regarding Spain, the Alhambra is the most amazing thing I've ever seen, but the rest of Granada wasn't so special.
Cordoba was somewhat nice as well, but nothing I'd spend more than a day or 2 at.
Barcelona on the other hand blew my mind. I stayed 3-4 days, and could've spent 4 weeks there before getting bored. By all means take some time in Barcelona. Northern Spain was more fun than southern for some reason.

One day in Barcelona is not enough so you might as well add it to the 3 day in Roma
Four day might be just enough to see and major sites, do a little shopping and relax… it will leave you wanting to come back.
But if you do any shopping try to go to the “tailoring” district, the quality and prices are amazing!!!!

I was gonna say two days, just because you can hit all the major attractions in two days, and there are so many other places in Italy I would rather spend my time. Barcelona is fun, high energy, good nightlife, and unlike most of the rest of Spain. But I'm not much of a whirlwind tour guy. We generally go somewhere and stay for a week or two. I would spend the extra day in Tuscany personally: Florence, or maybe a smaller town like Lucca.
Either way, sounds like a fun trip.
