Been diggin' on this lately...
Kaya N'Gan Daya by Gilberto Gil
Is Brazilian singer Gilberto Gil covering some of the best Bob Marley tracks... I normally don't like cover or tribute albums, but this is insanely good - passionate, hard-hitting, w/ Brazilian undertones (some of the songs sung in Portuguese). Original Wailers as well as Sly & Robbie are worked into a few of the recordings (recoding at Tuff Gong studios in Jamaica). The album translates beautifully - a must for any reggae or Brazilian music fan.

I must be getting old. I just bought the newest Cult CD, one of my favorite hard rock bands, and this album just really sucks... sigh... they (re: the industry) don't make music like they used to
