Me and my friend jamming
Updated. http://ashoknayar.tumblr.com/post/77...k-better-audio
^Better audio quality link. Still sloppy and still all improv. But better audio quality.
Just wanted to post this to show you guys. I've been looking for a drummer that I groove with for so long (well, to be fair, only like a year or so, and not that seriously, but still, this is NYC) and most can't groove at all, aren't that good, or just have really bad taste in music (which is the worst). The few that are good assume that because you've only been playing for 4 years or so, that it's not worth their time to give you a shot.
At any rate, my friend, who I've lived with for over a year and a half, plays the drums, but he never seemed like he cared about it. It was kinda like one of those "yeah I played trumpet in HS" type thing, so I never gave it any merit and he never pursued it. But we were bored and were like, whatever, let's go to the studio. And it was awesome. I was grinning all day yesterday.
Take a look at it. Audio quality is horrible, but maybe it'll give you an idea (sounds better with headphones so I ask that you listen with them, but obviously it probably doesn't matter to you). Oh and it's like blues rock type music, so you may either like it or not. Hope you enjoy.
1st Video. This is a song I wrote a while ago, and most drummers need me to record it because it's a weird groove (the verse). Sam picked up on it immediately. And the transitions and everything were just on point.
YouTube - Sam and Ashok
2nd Video. This is my personal favorite as it's primarily a guitar show off thing. Whole thing was improvised from start to finish and gets into a cool groove around 2 minutes in and really cool around 4 and a half minutes in.
YouTube - Sam and Ashok 2
3rd Video. Starts with a drum solo and goes into a groove at about 2:15.

Haha thanks man, that means alot coming from you. It was pretty special. It's like stories you read about great bands who, their first time around, immediately grooved. It was awesome. I'm pumped about the project. I'll get a better recording done this week.
