As posted before, I think Neil Peart is king of the skins for rock music, and Carter Beauford is a distant second. IMHO, honorable mention goes to;

Charlie Denante from Anthrax drives a mean, heavy beat.

Eric Kretz from STP also has a great style.

Niko McBrain from Iron Maiden plays quintessential heavy metal drums

Tommy Lee is a master showman.

There are a bewildering array of technically oriented drummers that deserve respect, but in terms of the balance between power, technique, and emotional content, I go with Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Charlie Benante (Anthrax), and Mike Portnoy (DT/LTE).

I don't know if I have a favorite.....but a few comes to mind ;o)

Dennis Chambers, Jeff Campitelli and Mike Wengren are all great players in their own way imo....
