^ Must clean carry gun every week - whether fired or not.

It is therapeutic and keeps it working right.

I clean mine just about every time, pistol wise. Rifles, like my SIG, no, especially if I only shoot a couple hundred rounds. When I tore mine apart after my 1000 round Wolfe ammo day, it was barely dirty. My Spikes M4, after every range day.

I only have a P22 and I clean that maybe every 1000 rounds. I mainly run CCI Stingers and it doesn't seem to mind.

mechamegalodon is an unknown quantity at this point
Same, I just like handling firearms so cleaning is not a problem for me. I have just heard the argument that guns were designed to shoot under dirty conditions, therefore it doesn't matter.

To clean or not to clean, that is the question. Lol, no seriously though, I shoot an over/under shotgun for skeet and sporting clays, and clean it about every 600-800 rounds. It isn't harmful for the gun, and I use powder for my shells that burns cleaner anyways, so it really doesn't matter.

In this case, however:

I can understand cleaning your carry gun every week. If cleaning your gun makes you feel better as it may be more reliable, by all means go for it. I'm not trying to discourage cleaning your guns frequently, I'm just too lazy to do it

look at it this way; you'll never go wrong with a clean weapon.
