You can probably buy less expensive 1911s for $500 or so, semi-customs are usually $2-3.5k, and full customs can be much more. |
Last non-1911 thread, I promise. I went through this with my wife, euros always think guns are like a rabid dog waiting to bite anyone who gets too close. I did a paper in college about gun violence rates in Japan (almost no one has guns) vs. Switzerland (almost every house has a military rifle). Both have very low firearm violence rates. If the gun is the issue, can you explain? A hint, the answer deals with training and culture. For you a gun might seem like a dangerous weapon, in our family a gun was like a kitchen knife. Yes you can cut yourself with it, but only if you're being stupid. |

As my fiancee pointed out, the Kimber in that picture is now hers. I gave it to her as an engagement gift... I am down to the Ed Brown and Nighthawk 1911s at the moment. I would really like to pick up an EB EE soon and add some smooth cocobolo Esmeralda grips to it. |

Kimber makes a great 1911. A lot of people with EBs, Wilsons, etc on the 1911 forum will talk down on Kimber but I have never had a problem. I wouldn't give my fiancee anything less than a perfect running pistol. As far as accuracy it is as accurate as any pistol I have ever shot. Revolvers are a different story because the fps is very different and there is less movement when fired with a revolver. |
