The TS 1911 Thread This thread is to show your current and previous 1911s. Here are my 3 current 1911s: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...MjAuanBn-1.jpg |
Nice! Pics of my only one are coming... |
someone post a pic of one with a huge compensator and extended clip |
I can't do that. :resent: |
Here you go (not all of them but my current ones): http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...i/DSC02109.jpg http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r...i/DSC01420.jpg |
Don't know if either qualifies as a true 1911, but I learned to shoot with my mom's officer's model as well as other loaned fullsize 1911's. http://i45.tinypic.com/34do6ci.jpg And on my 21st birthday I got a Para Ordinance P12. The P12 was fun to shoot and I actually liked the fat grip. It did have a tendency to stovepipe jam though, and it was my carry gun at the time. I sold it to my dad who still has it, I got an HK USP instead that I still own today. :D http://westernarms.net/collection/co...on2/img167.jpg |
It's a bit scary that you can weapons that easily :S |
Interesting thread. In for more. |

It's not like you need to pass some crazy test first right? Isn't as easy to buy a gun that it is to buy shoes? |
You have to get a criminal background check and cannot have been hospitalized for mental illness. In my state to carry a handgun concealed you need to do a safety/gun law class and range qualify with the weapon. So no, it's not like buying shoes, lol! |
Maybe not, but it's not like taking a hunter exam either (what you need to have if you want to own a gun here). Everybody talks about safety, but wouldn't be more safe if more or less no one could have guns in private? |

in which way could it possibly be more safe if everyone got a gun?... Im just curious.. |
Im not saying i know everything, but 'gunfacts.info' doesn't seem to be a very reliable source in this case. I get a feeling that they might speak for people who like guns and not from both parts view.. I don't want to get in a big discussion about this, i just asked a question how easy it was to get a gun in US. I've just heard that it is quite easy compare to other countries.. |
Awesome pictures everyone! Gun censorship is for another thread. This is for 1911s only. IIRC, Hossfly has some 1911s, I wonder if any will make it to this thread. |
Pics of my first are lost, but will probably pick up a TRP operator in the near future.

Just curious, How much does a 1911 cost? |
^ love the sig |
You can probably buy less expensive 1911s for $500 or so, semi-customs are usually $2-3.5k, and full customs can be much more. |
Last non-1911 thread, I promise. I went through this with my wife, euros always think guns are like a rabid dog waiting to bite anyone who gets too close. I did a paper in college about gun violence rates in Japan (almost no one has guns) vs. Switzerland (almost every house has a military rifle). Both have very low firearm violence rates. If the gun is the issue, can you explain? A hint, the answer deals with training and culture. For you a gun might seem like a dangerous weapon, in our family a gun was like a kitchen knife. Yes you can cut yourself with it, but only if you're being stupid. |
Back on topic. Currently have 3 1911s. Two Springfield Professionals (sequential serial numbers) from the custom shop and one TRP Operator. http://www.3dementia.com/Guns/IMG_0569r.jpg http://www.3dementia.com/Guns/IMG_0570r.jpg http://www.3dementia.com/Guns/IMG_0572r.jpg |

Or, instead of instantly discrediting something because you don’t like the name, maybe you could actually read the info in the link I posted? There are 111 pages of facts and statistics there that are fully referenced. Feel free to post which of those are inaccurate including all of your references that backup your claims. Be careful, you may actually learn something that bursts the bubble you live in. |

As my fiancee pointed out, the Kimber in that picture is now hers. I gave it to her as an engagement gift... I am down to the Ed Brown and Nighthawk 1911s at the moment. I would really like to pick up an EB EE soon and add some smooth cocobolo Esmeralda grips to it. |
FWIW, my Kimber was amazing right out of the box. It destroys my new SIG in accuracy... If you don't like guns, DON'T OPEN THE THREAD. |

I made a thread for my first 1911 purchase here: https://teamspeed.com/forums/team-sp...-purchase.html Some pics of it from the thread... http://i55.tinypic.com/20kxis4.jpg http://i53.tinypic.com/qmxlc8.jpg BTW, I am drooling over the Nighthawk above... I'm now eyeing an STI Ranger for my next 1911 purchase myself. |

Kimber makes a great 1911. A lot of people with EBs, Wilsons, etc on the 1911 forum will talk down on Kimber but I have never had a problem. I wouldn't give my fiancee anything less than a perfect running pistol. As far as accuracy it is as accurate as any pistol I have ever shot. Revolvers are a different story because the fps is very different and there is less movement when fired with a revolver. |

You can't lose either way |
Forgot this thread even existed. Here's the Sig Sauer 1911 Scorpion I picked up last Friday. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6116/...3caa3791_b.jpg Drove straight to the range after the purchase. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6111/...cded747b_b.jpg |
Gorgeous guns everyone! I am up for renewal in a week on my CCW. I am up in the air if I should use my EB or my Nighthawk for the pistol competency class. I usually carry the EB and shoot it a lot more but the 'hawk is almost identical in feel and I would like some more time behind it. The revolver part I kind of locked myself into shooting my Raging Bull as I have to shoot the same caliber that I originally qualified with. My hand is going to kill me after unloading a few dozen 454 rounds. |
I went shooting today to see which gun I wanted to use for my ccw requalification this week. The Ed Brown is my normal carry gun, and I use Wilson Combat 8 round magazines with the low-profile metal base pads for my in-gun and spares. There is an assortment of other magazines I brought to try. Nighthawk, Brown, Wilson, and Kimber. At least two different types of magazines from each manufacturer. Ammunition was 230 grain Winchester White Box for the bulk of shooting, not shown in these photos. The rest of the ammunition was 230 grain Speer (850fps) and 230 grain Double Tap with Speer bullets (1014fps). http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...NzYxLmpwZw.jpg This is 30 yards out of the Nighthawk without taking time to concentrate each shot placement. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...A3NjQuanBn.jpg This is 30 yards out of the Brown after a quick draw from my IWB holster quick sighting, dumping the magazine and then swapping to my spare magazine and doing the same. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...A3NjMuanBn.jpg This last photo is of a 50 yard target shot with a Double Tap jacketed flat point 230 grain (1010fps) round. I really concentrated on it and had a lot of luck. 1.5" target http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...A3NjUuanBn.jpg |
Nice shooting |
Thanks! |
Awesome - I love the 1.5" target down low - I wish all the papers had these (some have similar which I've seen). :golfclap: So I pulled the trigger (pun intended) on a special Kimber 1911 this weekend; unfortunately you won't see pictures until mid/late December as it's got a bit of processing to go through first (and there's a 30-day conflict running already from my S&W). :) |
What? Does nobody have a pink 1911 (American Guns)? lol |
