What ammo for Taurus .380 ??

What ammo for Taurus .380 ??
I recently puirchased a Taurus .380 PT738. The thing won't cycle!
So reading the owner's manual I see they recomment FMJ ammo. For a self-defense gun??? I notice the flat hollow end was getting caught on the edge of the barrel when chambering. Put some FMJ in it...works fine.
Can someone recommend ammo (about 90 grain) that has a round end similar to an FMJ but with a hollow point. Aren't some filled with plastic or covered in a thin layer of brass?
