VA laws are laughable, MD I believe is a bit trickier. Any non-criminal can get CCW with minimal effort in VA. The DC handgun ban did get overturned a couple of years ago, but no open or concealed carry. NY/NJ have similar strict regulation on carry.

Very cool chart. I have been thinking about posting something similar to this for a while.
I have always been amazed at the size and weight difference between a .40 S&W round and a .45 ACP round.
The .40 S&W actually feels weighty until you put the .45 ACP in your hand. Then you are like WHOA!

In MD, unless you are a retired police chief or someone the Superintendent of the MD State Police owes a political favor, you are not getting a CCW. I couldn't get one even when I worked in the jail for the Sheriff's office. We had to have FIVE documented threats against our life just to apply, and even then it was almost guaranteed they would turn it down.
