Fnh scar 17s

is on the cover of this month's American Rifleman.

Anyone looked into this rifle yet? I haven't had a chance to read my American Rifleman yet...

Saw that tonight too. I'm pretty sure they have been available for a while. I thought about getting one, but I already have a POF in .308, so I probably don't need it.

I want one. In black. With a 10-in barrel. And a can.

Not going to happen though.

Why not? You live in UT, all you have to have is money and a signature from CLEO, unlike us living in communist occupied areas.

Although a 10" barrel, even with a can, is not going to be quiet for a 762.

I want a black one with a can as well, but I'll stick with the standard 16" barrel. Bolt on the Accupoint 2.5-10x56 and it will make for just about the perfect low-light hog hunting setup.

The SCAR is a special case in that each barrel has a tuned gas block. Cut the stock barrel, gun no worky... Good luck sourcing short barrels. I've been looking for months for my SCAR-L.

It's a great gun - I just need to put some optics on it and shoot it more.

I just recently saw a show on the scar, the .223 v 762.

Tactical something or another on the sports channel.

The military sniper guy they had on the show doing the review, very much liked the 762 over the 223, and said it would likely be the replacement weapon for the SF for sniper. (or something to that effect). Either way, looked like quite the weapon.

The aftermarket is starting to catch up:

WTK SCAR gas port size :: FN Forum.NET

And guys who had the factory barrel cut down are having good results with just reaming the factory gas port to a slightly larger diameter.
