Scott,

Any news on your choice yet?

I found a 3 gun match three weeks from now near me and ill be attending to check it out. Looks like a lot of fun!

Unless something changes, my choice is the Sig 516 pictured above.

I've looked at 3 times now and love it. I can't find an owner on the net who doesn't like it other than 1 guy who had issues with it not returning to battery, but Sig fixed it... lifetime warranty.
There is a bit of anti-516 stuff on the net, but none of it is from owners.
For $1350, it seems just awesome. The red dot is suspect, but serviceable to start off. The rifle itself just feels solid. The fit and finish are top notch. I'm sold on it unless I learn of a better deal for the $ or I learn something detrimental about the rifle itself.

^Much envy here.... Id like to have one of those or a SCAR if I could. Since I am in the Peoples Republic, right now I am buying ammo.

If it checks out good in person I say buy it and shoot the crap out of it. While I don't own the 516, I have many Sig firearms that I am completely satisfied with. Chances are that Aimpoint knockoff will die eventually, but the overall package is still a good price and that can easily be upgraded to a real Aimpoint when the time comes. You will like having a piston over DI when it comes time to clean it.
