Texas hog hunting info?

Hello all,

Me and a couple buddies are planning to head to Texas in a couple weeks for a hog hunting trip. We will be meeting with a friend who lives in the Houston area and hunt for a day or two in Fort Bend county.

Suggestions for other places we could go for some good hunting, or groups we could go with? We want to make sure this is a successful trip.

PH ain't joking. I went on a couple of hog hunts and those little bastards are out to kick your butt.

They don't scare easy and they are mean as hell.

I went to a ranch as well. Stocked with hogs - I know, I know . . . Pretty wimpy.

Be sure to carry a backup side arm - .40 caliber or better. I don't think a 9 mm would stop one cold.

Only bear hunting is scarier.

these oklahoma hogs are wild and have tusks and weigh between baby size to 600lbs. the 600lb ones look like horses/cows with tiny legs. must have dogs.

Hogs are no joke.

Are you using a bow? Rifle? There are some great ranches here on the central coast with some monster hogs.

Thanks for the info guys. I have hunted smaller hogs before here in Ohio (though not very successfully due to them being so hard to find) and the other guys are seasoned hunters as well, so we are prepared for the experience knowing that everything is bigger in Texas.

We will be bringing a variety of rifles/calibers that we can choose from depending on the setup and just what we feel like shooting that day, so having the proper firepower will not be a problem. And we all carry .45 pistols as a backup.

We plan on spending a day or two at a friends private land in Fort Bend, and then a day or two at a paid ranch such as Langley to make sure we at least get some success: Langley Ranch

Unfortunatly the Langley ranch is booked solid for months so we are looking for another guide/ranch to go with, so if anybody has some recommendations it is appreciated. We will have another day or two free also, so we were looking for other public areas to check out as well.

Any feedback from your friend who owns the ranch?

Hey Dana, I sent you a PM. Do you have the name of the ranch you went to? We are looking for some other options of places to go while we are down there.

Thanks a bunch for any info guys, it's appreciated!
