Getting ready to buy a new pistol, opinions?

As the title says I'm in the market for a new handgun. I currently have a 9mm, but I can't stand the trigger so I'm going to ditch it for a new one.

Here is what I am looking at:

New Sig 250
Used HK USP
New Herstal FNP

I like the way they all feel in my hand, I have went a test fit them already. I have fired the HK, but neither the Sig or FNP. I'm not sure why but I seem to think I will prefer the SA/DA over DAO, but I wanted to see what some of you thought.

Thanks in advance
John

Not familiar with the Herstal FNP, but I believe the SIG and HK are on par. Just personal preference I guess. And before anybody else says it you should go to the range and shoot a Glock.

I've been roughly contemplating the Glock 17 RTF.

Do yourself a favor and get the older G17 or 19 at a discount since the new RTFs are coming out.

HK & Sigs..all the same. What is wrong with your current pistol? If anything, you can get a trigger job, and it can make it like new (better than new). Btw, I prefer either DAO or SAO; the DA/SA is just goofy.

Basically why I don't like what I have now is I made the mistake of buying a sub compact. While it fits ok in my hand due to the pinky extension on the mag, it's just so damn hard to shoot accurately because of it's size.

I just want a more or less full size gun.

I have the Sig P250 and is my daily carry. I absolutely love mine. Try it out and see if they will let you dry fire it a few times to check out the DA. It's long but is butter smooth. I've had no issues out of my .40 after 500ish rounds. Any questions just ask.

I really like the HK USP save for the very heavy first pull in DA/SA. I also like buying new guns, as a used gun could be somebody else's problem they are trying to unload, so the new HK price new may be prohibitive to what you want.

If you want a DA/SA polymer pistol in 9mm, look at the Sig SP2022. They can be found brand new for under $500, and it is one of the best bargins out there right now. People rave about the fantastic out-of-the-box trigger, great ergonomics, and perfect reliability. The 100% made in Germany guns with proof marks can still be found too (which some people prefer). It has won several large military contracts due to the total package it offers.

I personally would take the SP2022 over the P250 if looking for a 9mm, as I liked the trigger much better, and it has enjoyed better reliability overall. If you did want DAO it is also very cheap and easy to switch back and forth on the SP2022 in about 5 mins and for about $45 in parts:

The P250 is only available in DAO.

Lots of good info on both models here:

It's also not just a Sig love fest over there, quite a few prefer Glocks (and others) which results in some very good discussions of each brand.
