Looking to Get a .22LR plinker
#11
I do agree with this, most of the 22s I priced where around the $300 range, plus or minus about 50$. I am buying two handguns, I know I want a 22lr just not 100% sure yet what brand but I am leaning towards the Ruger 22/45, but I plan on using the 2nd permit (because NJ sucks and I kinda knew it would take forever) for a Makarov.
If anybody has any leads on Walther stuff (specifically a PPK .380), I'd greatly appreciate it. If not, it may be a Glock 19 or me. And yes, I understand they are very different guns, with the former being a pretty uhm . . . questionable pick.

Ha! You're so right. I disassembled/reassembled the MKIII once. Never again! Never had any jams though.

I finally decided....I went with the Reverse two-tone Sig Mosquito. It just looks sooo sexy. I decided against the Ruger because its just to much of a hassel to field strip and clean and its not as pretty as the Sig. Plus the newer Sigs I hear are a lot better then the 1st generation jamomatics and that its best to use CCI mini-mags which I would use anyway. I have it on order, just waiting to pick it up. Here is what it will look like...

I picked up a 2-tone Sig Mosquito this weekend for the little lady.
(Not my picture)
We compared it to the Walther P22, and although the P22 had a lighter trigger she liked the way the Sig grip fit her hand better. I'm glad she liked the Sig because the Walther barely fit in my hands. After a good clean and lube I took it to the range yesterday and ran 200 CCI mini-mags through it. It ran flawlessly and had great accuracy. I have read that the newer "F" serial number guns are much more reliable then the early "A" serial number guns. I am very pleased with the overall quality for a ~$300 semi-auto.
Next weekend I will take the woman to the range and see how she likes her new toy. She is new to shooting so I think this will be a great starter pistol for her. Not to mention I can use it for cheap trigger time instead of dumping as much ammo through my .40 P226.

I do not have it yet but I am stocking up on the mini mags, Dicks had 6 one hundred packs for 10$ each and I just cleaned them out in anticipation, I also picked up some stingers, and a 50 round pack of velocitors. The guy I deal with is a Sig Dealer and they have been back ordered for months, but he said he should be getting them in 6-8 weeks, so thats about end of august/early september from when I placed the order. Its hard to find guns in NJ, but I got a good price on it $340 OTD, including all fees.
I am still not sure on the second purchase yet, I was looking at Makarovs, the Sigmas, and the Taurus PT 111 pro.
