Most of these shop owners are FOB from South Korea.
That means they have all received training from their two years of conscript military service, so they are all proficient in firearms.
I don't know about some of the firing stances, but good for them that they were smart enough to exercise their right to bear arms in their adopted country and were able to fend off some attacks.
Korean churches at the time also organized neighborhood defense groups, the KPT, to help each other out with dudes with guns.
