On average, you can carry a folding knife under a certain size restriction. Many states have some sort of restriction on automatic knives and butterfly knives. However, it is your duty to check and validate what your state's policies are regarding the carry of knives - also you may want to check with your employer (unless you work for yourself) on their specific policies regarding knives.

 

Yeah. When I was carrying a knife on a regular basis, I looked into the laws. If I remember correctly, anything under a couple inches doesn't need to be exposed. If it's larger than that, than the clip needs to be exposed. For a variety of reasons I stopped carrying one on my person regularly, but keep one in my car.
