Question for those who carry

What personal protection equipment do you have on you at any given time when you carry (knives, extra mags, voice recorder, zip ties, condoms, etc)?

Do you have a shtf bag/survival kit in your dd? What contents are must have's when putting one together?

Always a knife. Just because it is as much a tool as it is a weapon. A firearm is rarely far away.

The SHTF bit that some get caught up in, is over rated and blown out of proportion. If something bad happens, you're not going to be rooting around in a bag. It is going to happen, and 15 seconds later you're going to be going WTF. You'd better be good with what you have on you.

+1 to all of the above.

In my car I always have gun, extra mag, knife, flashlight. All handy.

I have a hurricane shit has hit bag, but that is only to be carried during or after said event. This includes head lamp, AK w/2 mags, and chainsaw. If you've been through such a storm you'll understand the need for a badass husqvarna. On a daily basis I rely on charm and don't need a shtf kit.

+1 to that stuff listed above as well as a first aid kit; mobile GPS for the truck that can also be used on foot if needed; and a DISPOSABLE camera to document anything necessary (it's also there in case I ever get into a car related accident to prevent a s/he said pissing contest).

If I'm on a road trip, then the package changes to suit the expected conditions.

+1. My next big purchase - as I've stated multiple times here - will be a Glock 19. When I do this, I'll also be looking into a good option for secure storage within reach of my bed, and apply for a CCW. I'm going to be very honest with myself regarding the CCW. That is, make sure I've had adequate training, and feel comfortable where the gun is, whether it's in the car, on my person, etc. Luckily, I've got some good people local to help with this.

A good pair of Adidas.

What is the law on carrying knives in the US? Not state specific, just in general.
