Because semi-automatic AR-15s and AK-47s are not assault rifles (not that they would ever figure that out).

Here is what fits my idea of an AK-47 type of gun:

Not to get too into this, but why is an AR not an assault rifle? Isn't that was 'AR' stands for??? Even the military version M16 is limited to three shot bursts rather than full auto is most cases.

That's a common misconception. It receives its name from "Armalite model 15." Assault rifles are select-fire, meaning the user can switch from semi-auto to burst or fully automatic. The manufacture and sale of assault rifles for civilian use has been banned since 1988.

The anti-gun crowd falsely labels the AR-15 as an assault rifle in an effort villanize--and thus ban--the rifle.

Way too common misconception... and perfect description of the ban movement (mine's not moving anywhere)

Yeah, that's the image I usually get when I think of the AK family.

An AR is just a target shooting weapon or varmint hunting gun. The AK is something you normally don't buy for hunting...unless it's for the wrong target.

They are a blast to shoot. why does shooting guns always have to be about " you'll never hunt with an AK" but shit, more people go to ranges than you think
