I created that thread about 1911's which actually led me to reconsider the 9mm Glock, which is what I think I'll be purchasing. For my first handgun to own, I just can't think of anything more practical.

You are way off the mark, brother... The Glock doesn't "twist" any more than any other pistol you're limp-wristing. Hold onto to that thing and it's a gentle ride. Plastic is the future - doesn't crack like SIGs. Keep in mind I have a very nice P228 myself.

SIGs aren't banned for sale - maybe hi-cap magazines in some states, but that's it.

Who knows - depends on where you live, what the market's doing, etc. Roughly speaking, around $500 should be about right. Spend the money and get Trijicons (night sights) from the factory. It'll cost you about $50 more if you decide to it after the fact...

Nice... How many magazines do they come with now? Are they still in the little plastic "microwave" box? Congrats, man.

It's pretty obvious that I'm not a fan of the Glock (ergos don't work with me), but this looks like fun and absolutely unpractical. So, Darnell, you should have picked up one of these:

YouTube - Glock 298 rounds in full auto

Ah, if only Glock 18s were available. That had to be a dealer sample since they're not legal for private ownership (post-86 machine gun). I'd have one if I could. I've fired it before - totally impractical, but not bad if you need to break contact from a low-vis situation.

Ah, the old box looked like a tupperware tray. Thanks!

I can go and shoot one anytime I like...
I have an open invite to the range at the Glock mothership, 12 miles from my house. Neener neener neener...

And it is damn fun to shoot.
