Suggestions on first handgun
I've been thinking about buying a handgun recently, never owned one before, but have shot a few of my buddies, they include a Smith & Wesson pistol, Glock 9mm, and whatever the Dirty Harry gun is.......357 Magnum?
I really like the Glock a lot, I felt most comfortable with it, but are semi-auto's good guns for beginner's?
Thanks is advance for the suggestions.

Im no pro but I always heard go with the gun that feels the best in your hands (the feel of it, the way it handles, recoil, etc...).
Try to rent a few more at the range until you are sure. I don't see a problem with semi-autos for beginners.

Pick one that you are comfortable with. Don't get caught up in the caliber wars, no matter how much Choke calls you a pussy
The important part is to consistently train/practice with the gun, and for that to happen, you have to be comfortable holding and shooting with it. Good luck and either way, you can't go wrong with any of the main stream choices out there. Only advice I would give is to avoid the 1911s for now because that market segment is incredibly huge with a lot of makers that typically require some tweaking to get an reliable pistol.
