Don't feint like it was just a bit of humor - that's funnier than the sour joke you "apparently" tried to make.

Doesn't matter if Pagani sold this car to someone or are using it only as a demo. They shouldn't import any car to the USA with false data on a plate like that. It is deceptive and illegal. I don't have to work for the DOT to recognize that and chastise them for it. They should be very glad no one who mattered caught it.

They presented the car at Quail and told several visitors to their display that this car was the final North American configuration, fully certified for US sale. I'm disappointed that this plate didn't catch my eye when I was viewing the car as it would have changed the course of our conversation very swiftly. I wouldn't have know that the 06-10 exemption was Koenigsegg's but I am certainly aware that Pagani never received an exemption for Advanced Airbags.

Look when I said I did not care I meant that this situation does not touch me personally. If I thought this affair would have a major impact then I would have made more of a fuss about it.

When I have taken cars to the USA for tours etc technically by US laws they would have been illegal if I was wanting to import or sell them in the US. If as you say the authorities could have acted on the Pagani ID plate then why did they not act on the font of my licence plate as it was clearly illegal in the US as were many other things? As I was only ever going to be in the USA for less than a year basically I could get away with almost anything as long as I meet the criteria under which I was bringing the car in.

The same thing applies to the Pagani. The use of the word "Import" in this context is wrong. The car is effectively a tourist. Which is why I could not understand the fuss that was being made? They have broken no rules here; if they had tried to sell it on then then this would be a completely different conversation

As for the joke, yes it was, not a great one I admit but very much tongue in cheek. If some did not get it then so be it. You cannot please all the people all the time

Your right I have not presented anything because I don't think there is anything. And as you say there is no wrong or right here, but as a famous guy once said "When the facts change, so do I" That's probably mis-quoted but you get the idea

My goodness that's terrible. Hope the guy who started the thread about the pagani frame welds doesn't see that! Did they really put a sticker over some rivots. Insert face palm here

See the car in person then pass judgement.

No one has passed judgement on the car. And @997Carrera, I've never said it wasn't a work of art either. I would love the opportunity to see one in person.

I've seen several Huayras including a few in build at the factory and this US-spec car in person at the Quail and on the road in Monterey. The face is still my least favorite part - can't get over that, even the 'Track Pack' front splitter does little to help. The craftsmanship on the other hand is first rate (except those ugly welds ) and the details Pagani inject into their designs really make the car feel very special. The interiors can get a bit disco at times, but you can sort that out with a proper spec. I remain a bigger fan of the Zonda, especially with its normally aspirated power, but I do generally like what Pagani are doing.

As far as judging them on this - it's a real hit to their integrity in my eyes. Similar feelings to when they ran their TopGear power lap with cheater slicks. Some serious missteps that really damage my overall impression of the brand and also leave open the question of what other underhanded things they might doing that no one has yet to notice. Shame...

And that sticker looks awful, but at least it says what it should assuming they have actually satisfied the standards they were previously claiming bogus exemptions from.

The quality of the machine and how the company that produces it is run are separate things...not tied to each other.

IMHO Pagani automobiles are at the top of the food in terms of quality & performance and are to be enjoyed.

I can tell that crappy sticker is crappy from a picture. I love the Zonda, like the Hyura, and don't question the details. I only find the sub par sticker as a clue to the original false plaque. I'm sure the finished production product will be great

I don't see the world through your rose colored glasses. The fact that they would cheat in a performance test then lie about it later when caught or fabricate a Federally mandated data plate with false information about exemptions they never received on a car they imported to the USA raises serious questions about their business ethics. These actions should be judged with higher importance than how pretty their cars are or how fast they might go.
