Hi,

265 is faster than 258.

Cheers,
Nik

It doesn't matter - Guinness reinstated the full 267.8 the Veyron SS achieved with the governor removed. Plus that 265 mph figure was achieved by a vehicle that is not a production car, therefore not the least bit relevant.

I think it is important to note that a Ford GT (coincidentally modified by Hennessey) went almost as fast as the Veyron at the recent Texas Mile Shootout and that doesn't count as the production car record either. Plenty of modified cars go faster at Bonneville each year and they don't own the record. Calling the Venom 'new' or a 'production car' in an effort to suggest relevance is really just false advertising.

It might be worth noting here that Hennessey themselves are no longer referring to the Venom GT as the world's fastest "production" car on their website.

So Bugatti gets the production car speed record at 267, even though the production cars only go 258. I've always thought this was odd.

I only commented because you stated that the 258 is 'still faster than the used Lotus'.

All good. Order has been restored it would seem.

Oh - haha, I guess it does read that way. Two thoughts mixing in my head at the time didn't come out right and you were certainly correct based on how I worded it there.
