Pagani Huayra Confirmed for Mid-2013 U.S. Deliveries
The "God of wind" will feature smart airbags to satisfy U.S. Regulations
Ever since the reveal of the Huayra, Horacio Pagani has always intended to sell his new hyper-car in the United States, but he has faced a long and difficult journey since the company's requested airbag exemption was rejected last summer.
If Pagani wanted to carry forth with its plan for U.S. sales, they had no choice but to install "smart" airbags that would satisfy U.S. regulations. This wound up costing the company an additional $5.1 million. Fast forward to present day and we can happily report that Horacio Pagani has confirmed the Huayra will arrive in America by June of 2013.
"With the excitement that the Pagani has gathered world wide, its made the Pagani Huayra the most anticipated super sports car the US has yet to see! The perfect combination of form and function. We all were a bit scared when we heard the news of a "stall" on the US importation, but headquarters in Modena, Italy assured the 3 US dealers that the problem would be put to rest and resolved," said Prestige Imports CEO Brett David.
A limited number of units (Approximately 15) are headed for our shores, and they will feature a fire-breathing AMG-sourced 6.0-liter bi-turbo V12 engine that produces a massive 730 PS (537 kW/720 hp) and 1,000 Nm (738lb/ft) of torque. The hyper-car accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and hit top speed of 370 km/h (230 mph), which will likely never be seen on our roads.
If you're interested in acquiring one for yourself our friends at Prestige Imports will do their best to fulfill your dreams of ownership. Pricing is will start at roughly $1.3 million.
