Australian-made supercar will feature a mid-mounted aluminum V8 engine producing north of 500 bhp (373 kW / 507 PS)

JOSS Developments will be bringing its upcoming JP1 supercar to the Australian International Motor Show.

The JP1 is a two-seat sport coupe riding on a composite honeycomb sub-frame with a carbon fiber body. The car is powered by a mid-mounted aluminum V8 engine producing north of 500 bhp (373 kW / 507 PS). Transmission is a six-speed manual gearbox which helps take the 940 kg (1,411 lb) car from 0-100 km/h in less than 3.0 seconds. The JP1 has an estimated top speed of 340 km/h (211 mph).

The Australian-made supercar will cost approximately $500,000 AUD (€345,555 / $455,875 USD) but a release date has not yet been announced.

"JOSS Developments has spent the last few years working on the business: building investment, working with our technical suppliers, and putting in place the right people so that when we launch JP1 the company will be geared up to deliver a great product to the market," says founder and technical direct of JOSS Developments, Matt Thomas.

At the show, JOSS will also show a computer-generated image of the JP1 production version.

The Australian International Motor Show takes place between July 1 and July 10 at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Who would actually buy that? It doesn't even look good. It looks like it was built in the 90's.

I hate to be a naysayer, but this car will never get off the ground.

It's been years and years and it's always struggled to get enough money to see it into production.

Happy to be proven wrong.
