Venom GT Prepares for Goodwood Festival of Speed (video)

Let's see,... For the price of just one of these Lotus Elise/Venom GT's (>$750,000) I can buy a completely new Ferrari 458 AND a completely new McLaren MP4-12C,... AND a completely new Porsche GT3 4.0L!... AND still have enough money left over to buy that 'super expensive' looking Lotus Elise!
Yep, I'm completely convinced!! Nothing strange about this Elise/Venom GT in any way.

Based on your logic a Koenigsegg, Pagani, Ferrari Enzo, Veyron, etc are all stupid vehicles. So why not hate on them?

No matter how many 458s, MP4s, GT3s, etc you buy, you still will not get what 1 Venom GT gives you. It will stomp those in handling, ridiculously stomp them in acceleration, ridiculously stomp them in top speed. This car offers all that a Koenigsegg and Gumpert Apollo does in one car. So actually think of that savings. $800k CCX + $500k Gumpert Apollo. That is $550k more than the Venom GT to get the same experience. And you have to switch off between two cars to get it all.

Have you PERSONALLY put this car on edge?
I have the feeling that's a no answer to both questions.

Now you think this Elise/Venom GT is in that class of supercars?

Too funny.
And actually I never called the car 'stupid'. But the price for the car is several times past just ordinary stupid.
There are 100's of great examples of exceptional people making good, standard cars much more powerful and doing good custom body work, or adding quality body kits. Some are ridiculously powerful. But there is much much more to being an elite supercar auto manufacturer than just adding a new, big, turbo engine to an inexpensive Lotus Elise and then adding an old Lotus body kit. And no one in their wildest imagination thought any of those other hot rods as being worth >$750.000.
I do want to see this particular car's full track performance. Not idiot, straight line drag racing, please. But real, road course, race tracks performance. And no matter what happens, it is still just a nice custom hot rod. I know a beautiful custom Noble that will beat this Elise/Venom GT on any track anywhere. But that doesn't make the customized Noble worth anything near >$750,000.
Heck, the modified Lotus body kit looks are not even original on this car. Here is a photo of another custom hi-performance Elise/Exige with a VERY similar wide-body kit designed and made in Australia several years back. Look familiar?
I really don't hate this custom Elise/Venom GT turbo hotrod at all. It's an exciting Lotus hot rod! I always really really like custom Elise and Exige track cars! Especially with new engines! I know a few. And many are really CRAZY fast on a track! I just can't believe that some turbo car guy thinks it's that easy to make a complete, real hi-performance supercar company by just marketing one or two modified Lotus Elise hot rod cars with a new name, and then claiming the cars are worth >$750,000.00 each.
If someone wants to buy one of these modified Elise cars at that crazy price; cool for john!

To your second part, I guess you have absolutely no idea the design/engineering that went into this car. The chassis is mostly a custom spaceframe from Hennessey, the engine is highly modified by Hennessey, and the body was in house designed and tested for aerodynamics.
To your third part, that elise body kit actually looks extremely different than the Venom GT. Did you even try?
Just tell me what it is in your opinion that Hennessey didn't do for this car to be considered a >$750,000 supercar alongside the likes of the CCX, Veron, Enzo, etc.

It seems as though most people don't want to feel like their buying a $750k Lotus. Not trying to add fuel to the fire by saying that but I'm guessing that people spending that much money want to have something that isn't mistaken at a quick glance as a modified Exige. Cars like the Zonda, Koenigsegg, and other cars in that price range have top notch fit and finish and originality. I haven't seen the Venom in person but I'd put money on it that it doesn't come close to it's competitors in that aspect. The one reason I say that is because they didn't take the time to make something unique enough and all of the Lotus comments vouch for that. People keep comparing this car to the Veyron and keep throwing out numbers but at the end of the day, when you're buying a Veyron or a car of the likes, you're getting a quality piece of machinery with an unmistakable following. That to me, would be worth the price difference.

Yes it looks similar to a Lotus. You wouldn't buy it at that price. I probably wouldn't either, but that doesn't make it any less freakin awesome. I say it earns whatever price people will pay for it.

just kidding...i couldn't resist
