TPain's Veyron getting repo'd??

How about this idea? Let's imagine one of those super high end night clubs where everything was the same except ALL of the champagne had to be served in plain bottles with no labels. How much Cristal do you think that club would sell if it didn't come in a bottle that people could show off? Do a majority of people in clubs drink Cristal for the flavor?

1.Standing out so as to be clearly visible
2.Attracting notice or attention
Clearly a rosso corsa f430 with tubi exhaust meets these criterion. As does a solid gold daytona. There are things that are as expensive, say a gt2 RS, but they do not stand out or attract as much attention.

Is the 430 or daytona purchased for the sole reason of showing off how rich you are? In my book, conspicuous consumption is about consuming the most expensive things possible for the purpose of making sure everyone knows you were able to buy it. For no other reason than to show off and attract attention.

Many times yes, all the time, no. I think us TSers may live in the exception. I know someone who liked to drive his f430 at night for this very reason, yet at the same time we have SF on this forum. But this is subjective. To me a 911 is not CC, to my dad it is. Would my goal be to look like I have some spending change, no.

Interesting and intelligent debate.
I'm going based off my friend's account who sent me the video who said he heard "the guy arguing about tags not matching VIN" and that he heard something along the lines of the name "T Pain" being thrown around. If that's not a slam dunk case, I don't know what is.

. Our friend SF may like his cars, but my suspicion is it's more about the attention than anything else.
