I told him, while you grew up in private schools, nice houses, private jets vacations; Some people live in the ghettoes and feel like they have no way out of it other than making "socially irresponsible music".

I'd rather rap, and make something out of it then starve and live in the ghetto all my life. At least its legal, and i contribute to the economy
Agree with you 100% on the first part and it's not the contributing member of society part that rubs a lot of people the wrong way, it's the not so legal part .

Anywho, let's get back OT. This thread is about Veyron's getting repo'd.

Ced I think the major grip people have with many(but not all) rappers is that they glorify drug dealing, pimpin and violence. I'm sure they have worked hard for what they have. You don't have to like how they made it

Not sensitive in the least bit, i just want people to open their eyes a little.
My friend, is still a good friend of mine, but its a debate we still don't agree on to this date.

You take Bill Gates, or Warren Buffett, they made something out of nothing.... hmmm.. kinda true... Here's why?

Bill Gates maybe wasnt born as rich as he is, and he did build MS from the ground up, but at least; he had access to a computer when he was a kid; at least someone could afford his Harvard education.
Warren Buffett's dad was a politician and businessmen, so at least he had someone teach him the ropes early.

But you have some people in our society, the ones i like to refer to as: "The-NEVER-HAD-SH*TS", these people had 0 and it just baffles me, when people discredit or try to criticize their success man. That's why i defend them so much at times and to be honest i really don't give a shit about any them, i dont listen to too much rap, and i certainly will not listen to music of a guy who calls himself Birdman, with a tattoo of a star on his head, but u gotta give them credit somewhere for their success...

Maybe its just me, I just don't understand that feeling of jealousy.

That's where there is a misunderstanding, because, Rap is fiction, like a movie. Most of them, never did what they rap about. Its about portraying a fictional lifestyle and trying to capitalize of it. I call it genius!

We are comparing apples and oranges here. BG and WB are ultra top 0.000000000000001% rich multi-billionaires. There is almost no-one who you can compare their wealth too, expect maybe entire countries.

There are, however, thousands of people (all races) who have attained the level of wealth as many rappers. They did it all sorts of ways and I'd venture my left nut that many of them, yes, GASP, even some white people, came from absolutely nothing as well. And I give all of them all the credit in the world (assuming they did it legally).

This thread is epic fail. No, not all rich people inherited money. Moreover, even if they did most still work harder than a majority of Americans and turn their wealth into more wealth; not just sitting on the beach. Anyone who thinks the successful I-Bankers or CEOs are given their money and don't work over 12 hours a day are smoking crack. Also, people don't hate on rappers because of a perceived lack of hard work or intelligence. Anyone who has seen how someone like jay z works, or has read his interviews knows that this isn't the case. They do; however, oppose the lifestyles they lead. I am someone with classical, somewhat conservative values. Do I take anything away from lil Wayne for being a successful rapper? No. Do I completely go against everything he stands for because he carries illegal weapons, and comically walks through life high on his sizurp drink? Yes. Kanye west, musical genius. The asshat walks on stage to take away the award for Taylor swift with some sort of ghetto swagger. I was brought up with one parent, so that is a BS excuse for having no manners, and not having an interest in scholastic pursuits; I always had at least 1 job through HS and college.

Anyways- y'all say we shouldn't hate because he made it against the odds. I know nothing about his finances, but the fact that he has his veyron being towed away means he still doesn't get it. This is why some people don't become wealthy. Yes you are richer than most if you have the coin to buy a veyron. You are wealthy when you have a good enough monetary sense to not have your possessions repo-ed.

Btw- I know someone at school at harvard. If your parents make under a certain level, I think $200k you get significant aid. If it's under $100k I am almost certain it's free.

There are plenty of people who came from absolutely nothing, race has nothing to do with it.

Lloyd Blankfein

Blankfein, a postal worker’s son grew up in Brooklyn’s Linden Houses. When he was a teenager he took the long commute to Yankee Stadium to work as a concession vendor. “I tell you I learned what a dollar was worth because I learned how to make it three cents at a time carrying trays of soda at Yankee Stadium,” Blankfein told NPR.
Larry Ellison

But he worked his way up with zero family connections and no inherited wealth. Ellison didn’t know he was adopted until he was 12.
Ursula Burns

The Xerox CEO grew up on New York City's Lower East Side "when it was really bad, when the gangs were there and the drug addicts were there," she recalled to the NY Times.
John Paul Mitchell

But at one point his mom could not support him anymore, and he was sent to a foster home. He was homeless twice before making his fortune, including when he was 22, working jobs from being a janitor to driving a tow truck.
Howard Schultz

Schultz grew up in the Canarsie Projects of Brooklyn. Schultz lived in a cramped two-bedroom unit in an apartment building that housed about 150 families. He recalled how embarrassed he would be when he found out that the sleepaway camp he went to as a kid one summer was "a subsidized program for underprivileged kids"

How about looking at this from another perspective. I can't stand people who are into blatant, in-your-face, over-the-top conspicuous consumption. It doesn't matter what race or color, they get equal hate from me. That is my opinion and the way I chose my to live my life and select my friends.

I mean that is a good motto- but many would think a Ferrari or gold watch is in your face over the top consumption. So that is a big chunk of the TS regulars in the target..
