Lake Veyron up for auction... Everybody remembers this story, right?
Well news of it coming up for auction was posted on a French Bugatti enthusiast site. Here's the text translated courtesy of Google.
It seems to me that this car would just be a giant paperweight without a whole lot of effort and expense being made by the factory to restore it. Considering you can buy a Veyron that doesn't have this much 'history' for less than a million bucks these days I just can't see this car ever being worth it to repair.
Oh well, it's just a Veyron.

The Bugatti Veyron diving into a lake in 2009 is to be auctioned
Remember this Bugatti Veyron, who finished his journey in a lake in Texas in 2009, after his driver had to be called "avoided a pelican."
For some time now we had not heard from her, because last time we could see it was a few days after his accident, when she was being dismantled in a garage (you can review the article with the pictures HERE ).
The question that often came back was: "Is she returned to Molsheim to be repaired?
"Well, the answer is no.
This car is not repaired by the workshops of the mark for reasons totally unknown to us. Almost a year and a half after undergoing this disaster, the car is auctioned "as is". The electric circuit is out of service, as the engine ... in short, the self is no longer able to drive, it is also sold without the keys.
The principle of the site where it was on sale ( see here ) is to sell some vehicles seized, but also and above vehicles damaged more or less seriously at prices (very) reduced. Here is the opportunity to afford a "Veyron" cheap just for the pleasure of owning this car because it will be impossible to ride with. The sale ends March 23, 2011

Here one can clearly see that the floor is off, and that some parts are missing in the cockpit, as the center console among other things:

I must be the only one who doesn't get the whole Veyron thing.
For a million bucks, there are many other iconic and prettier cars I would rather have.
This thing needs to go 260mph because it is really hard to outrun ugly.

My only question is, could you get this thing running again? and what could it go for?
If you can build a car from ground up, (We are building a 1000 hp car from scratch now) how hard can it then be to fix a car like this?
You have to be an idiot to consider this, but I am so I cant help thinking about if this is possible... ;-)
Lets say you can get it for 200k???, if so you can do a lot of repairing for another 200k and walk away with a 400k Veyron. Maybe not a Veyron that has a good history and fixed in the proper Bugatti way, but a pretty insane car for someone who cares less about that kind of things. Why not throw a wide body kit at it while we are still being idiots? ;-) ;-) ;-)

... I know a veyron, as good as new, less than 5k miles, that goes for 550k (euro's) next week!!
