Yes, they can as they are deemed only to be visiting the USA and the car will return to its country of origin within a year.

Now that is an interesting question. I suspect you would be able to import a car from your non USA country of citzenship again for a period of up to one year but it would have to return within that time.

But I suggest you check as that is just a guess, but it sounds logical

No.

McLaren used a bespoke engine designed and manufactured by BMW.No other car ever saw that engine, and Bimmer techs would have no idea where to put the oil in it.

Pagani uses the widely available 7.3 AMG engine, derived from ye olde 6.0 48V V12. Most MB techs can diagnose it, change the oil and do routine maintenance.

Sure changing chassis components will be equally as complicated ... but think about it. By having a locally serviceable engine, you just saved the $$$ of either sending your car to the factory or flying a tech to your garage every 5,000km. That's not negligible.

The AMG engine in the Zonda is custom built for them and is delivered to Zonda as a crate motor. If you look under the rear clam shell of a Zonda you will see a plaque with the AMG builders name on it. Here you go:

The engine can be serviced by any AMG authorised dealer. This makes the car much cheaper to look after than an F1

By the way, an American citizen living abroad would not be able to get away with this. I.E. they could not import a non US compliant car to the US for personnel use.

The policy is purely designed for non US citizens who are importing cars for short term personnel use and then exporting them back to the country of origin

Custom built for them yet found in the SL73 AMG long before the Zonda gained it.

Do you know how this would work the other way around? For quite some time I've had a dream of shipping my car to Europe for a few days' fun at the 'Ring, but have been told it's a nightmare in terms of the temporary licensing.
