He is obviously a car guy, had driven the MP4-12C on the track as well as the road, and was very unpretentious and down to earth. A few days later I got a call from a guy at the factory in England, who just called to introduce himself, and offer to answer any questions.

I have been very impressed by their low pressure but thorough approach. I have owned 5 mid-engine Ferraris before (including a couple of keepers I should have never sold!), and was leaning heavily toward a 458. But I reserved a spot for a McLaren and suspect I will place an order when the time comes.

I always wanted an F1, but they have risen in price completely out of my reach. I'm very impressed with the company and their technology. I'm anxious to see it in person. Two weeks from tomorrow!
great news brother, what combo have you configured?

^^ I went with Supernova silver, lightweight wheels with performance tires, carbon ceramic brakes, carbon mirrors, Alcantara interior, Meridien sound system, lightwieght exhaust, heated power seats, stealth package. That's all I can remember from the top of my head.

It was like configuring a Porsche online, in that I'm sure you could increase the cost of the car by 50% if you started checking boxes. A lot of the carbon pieces and the F1 telemetry system were tempting, but I'll wait until the price list comes out before I make those decisions!

Fantastic article, and the MP4-12C sounds incredible (perhaps more incredible that this is McLaren's "entry level" car, no?). I can't wait to see what they do as an F1 successor.

The name is a lot. Just something special about saying the word 'Mclaren'

If rumors are correct the 12C will end up being the mid-range car and they'll produce something in the $100K-$150 range later on. The F1 successor is due to be unveiled next year though and a convertible version of the 12C will follow with perhaps a real 12C "GTR" too, if demand warrants it.

A supercar I can actually fit in
Let me know when you take delivery!

Because my bf is in line to purchase the MP4, I had the opportunity to speak with McLaren's "higher ups" at Pebble Beach during one of their private viewings of vehicle, and you describe their approach perfectly - low pressure - thorough approach...very nice!

I can also say that I think you are making a fantastic decision to buy this car over any other supercar...It is absolutey stunning! So, congratulations on your next purchase, I'm sure you will not be disappointed. Also, can't wait to see pix!!!
