The race we all have waited for: Veyron vs F1 by Top Gear
#21
Guys, here are a couple of things you need to consider with that race.
First it was extremely hot which meant the Veyron as a multiple turbocharged car would be having real problems producing its best power of the line as a high ambient temperature has a negative effect on Turbos. Therefore the F1 being a normally aspirated engine, would have been at an advantage.
Second, with the Veyron being down on power and 4 wheel drive it was likely to bog off the line.
These points could explain what we saw in the video

If you are talking about 6 or 7 years ago, then I can believe that might be true. If you are referring to something more recent then you would need to be more specific about which car and where it was for sale. If recent, then I have a feeling you may have been looking at a price in British Pounds and not US Dollars, or you were looking at a bogus advertisement altogether.
The last F1 I am aware of that sold for such a low price was chassis #022 in 2005, and that car needed $300,000 worth of work by the McLaren factory in order to bring it back to suitable condition given a lack of care by its previous owner. A year later another F1 out of the collection of the Brunei Royal Family that was also in need of similar amounts of work changed hands at auction for $1,705,000 USD. The market for road cars in any condition has been above $2M USD ever since.

remember when they raced the Veyron against James May's plane and Clarkson was saying that the Veyron could let the Macca reach 100 mp before taking off and it still would get to 200 mph before it?
