2008 Pebble Beach Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Soft Top Demo

The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport has a removeable hard top with a stand,
for stowing in your garage, when it is off the car.

But it also has a soft top. Should you decide to leave the hard top at home
and you get caught in rain, the soft top is very easy to put on the car
and remove.

In fact, the soft top is extremely clever! It is basically an umbrella!!

It actually got applause from the crowd when they demo'd it in Pebble Beach!

Here are some pix I took during the demo.

Save them to your disk and then run them with slide show.

The soft top is stowed in the front boot in a neat bag.

I begin the sequence with removing the soft top bag from the front boot.

That is great. It seems to fit really well, and doesn't mess up the lines and look of the car. Why couldn't they make something like that for the LP640!?!

cool umbrella design, but how does it look from inside the cabin, is it all exposed?

I agree. I think the LP640 design may have caused them to think a little
harder and come up with this clever design.

If I recall, the guy who put on the top, reached in and removed the
umbrella handle to show that the handle doesn't just hang down
between you and the passenger.

As far as what does it look like from the inside, it should look like that
close shot I have of the umbrella structure. It looks like it has double
bracing versus what a normal umbrella would have. I don't know if it
intrudes too much into head room.
