I don't follow baseball, but I don't get it. Owner can't make payroll so MLB is taking it over? As in taking his property (the team still has value!) or are they buying it from him?

The team is they key pawn in an incredibly nasty divorce.

Also, McCort's wife is represented by David Boies.

Game over.

My thinking is that McCort requested this action.

Fans all over the country couldn't be happier... One of the most respected teams in the league was ruined by McCort. Let's just hope the new ownership can bring back the greatness

I don't follow law, either. It seems that he is quite the lawyer by simply looking at this Facebook page. This stood out-

Boies negotiated on behalf of American Express two of the highest civil antitrust settlements ever for an individual company: $2.25 billion from Visa, and $1.8 billion from MasterCard.[7]

Yea I would think the late husband will be paying up

He also represented Microsoft in their Anti-Trust case - didn't do so well there. Ha Ha!

He is one of the best litigators in the nation.
