^To further expand on that. Stars with multiple championships have had numerous occasions to showcase their abilities to perform on the world's biggest stages. The biggest stars shine the brightest when the most eyes are upon them.
MJ, Kobe, Magic, Bird, Russell and Kareem all did their best when the games meant the most. That is why they are always mentioned in discussions of all time greats.

I think we confuse better player with more talented... E, your remark about Montana vs Elway is a great example... Montana was surrounded by arguably the most talented players to ever play their respective positions. Rice, Taylor(best #2 ever), Craig ( marshal Faulk before Marshal)... An incredible O-line and don't even get me started on the D and bill Walsh. Elway on the other hand lacked the talent for most of his career and still led his team to the super bowl more times than Big Joe did. Was Montana a BETTER QB? NO, was he more talented?HELL NO, will most uneducated or bay area sports fans consider Joe the best ever? Yes, and like the Russel argument people will point at the rings and call it a day. It's just not "cut and dry".
Who is the best in any sport is so impossible to really nail down. Their are very very few definitive greats, Rice being #1 and Gretzky being #2....
What do those two have in common, neither can truly effect the entire game. Rice can't play D,kick field goals or tackle a wide-out. Wayne plays 70% of the game and can't stop goals (for the most part). In a sport like basketball a few truly great players can in fact do EVERYTHING and that's where the controversy starts.

So not only are you uneducated but your from the "bay".... Damn E, double whammy!
He was on the greatest dynasty ever, and happened to be 1 of there QB's! I actually think Young could have been even better if he had played from day 1.

Here is what I dont get, there is no I in team, its not I won 6 rings.. more a team won 6 rings. One single player can not hold the claim that they have 6 rings, its a team sport. Am I wrong? SO why cant Lebron, Kobe be as great as MJ. Just to be held in the same category as MJ should be enough.
In his first 7 seasons Lebron did more with less than either Kobe or MJ did/could've.
Sports history is full of great players that were never lucky enough to have the supporting cast needed to win multiple championships. This is a constant topic of debate among all sports fans. Was Wilt better than Russell or Jabbar? Was the Big O better than Magic? Could Elgin Baylor have been MJ before there was MJ if he had a better supporting cast?
This is always a popular debate among football fans as well. Was Elway better than Montana? (No f-en way!!!! ) Emmett better than Payton or Sanders? Everyone knows Jerry Rice is the greatest football player that ever laced em up so no sense in debating that
IMHO, the bottom line is that in a galaxy of stars, championships are what makes some shine brighter than others.

Although Lebron isn't as great of a last shot taker as Kobe is, Kobe is not able to carry an entire team as well as Lebron is. If Kobe had played for the Cavs we probably wouldn't know how great of a big-shot taker he is because the Cavs never would've been close enough at the end of the game for it to matter.
Now that Lebron doesn't need to carry his team for 4 quarters, he's got more energy for the last 5 minutes and we're seeing his true potential in close game situations.
Whether or not Lebron wins multiple rings is uncertain, but I do believe he'll go down as one of the greatest, if not the greatest player ever. And, without a doubt, choosing to go to the Heat instead of staying with the Cavs plays a role in that.

Sorry... but if you didn't watch Kobe in 2003-2006 than you have no idea what carrying a team is. He took a roster full of rejects to the playoffs in the hardest conference and almost eliminated the number 1 seed.
Please do not compare the Leastern Conference and the what LeBron did in what was one of the weakest conferences ever, to what Kobe had to work with and what he did in the Western Conference during those years.
