Pardon my ignorance, but what's wrong with the ice and why is it occurring? The announcers are talking about it a lot.

C $ it was 95 all day today and humid. That's bad for the ice. But there's another big storm coming inn it should cool down.

Its warmer and humid. Makes the top of the ice melt much quicker, in a addition to all of the skating. Thin layers of water form on top as puddles, and as soon as the puck hits that spot it acts like glue. Makes puck handling very difficult. The heat in general makes the puck bounce more and harder to control.

Wow didn't realize outside influence effected the ice... I guess doors opening and such are a killer! You would think in 2011 we could come up with a solution...

It wont affect small local arenas to a great extent, but the larger stadium arenas get hit hard.

Counterintuitive to me. You'd think the larger arenas would have better technology/more money to resolve problems like the weather outside.

Then again, it does make sense that the larger surface area means more heat from the outside. Idk much about hockey rinks either way though.

Well withstanding said technology; Smaller volume = easier to cool. I do have a weather control machine they can borrow though.

And bruins with 4.
