Transfer Season Gossip Thread
So, now that the WC is coming to an end and the transfer gossip is running rampant I thought it might be fun to follow some of the developing stories.
Here's a few to start:
The agent of Zlatan Ibrahimovic has quashed speculation the Swedish striker will leave Barcelona and return to Italy's Serie A this summer. The 28-year-old had a disappointing finish to the Primera Liga season and Barcelona have since signed David Villa from Valencia, sparking speculation Ibrahimovic could be on his way out of the Nou Camp. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has flown to South Africa to try to secure the signing of Liverpool and Spain striker Fernando Torres for a British record £50m.
New Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson wants to sign Joe Cole. The 28-year-old midfielder, who was released by Chelsea at the end of last season, has been linked with a move to Tottenham.
Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola has made a secret visit to Spain's World Cup base to try to seal the signing of Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
Manchester United are plotting a £25m-move for Inter Milan and Netherlands playmaker Wesley Sneijder, who has excelled at the World Cup in South Africa.
Chelsea are leading the chase for Germany playmaker Sami Khedira. Stuttgart are reportedly ready to sell the 23-year-old for £12m now, rather than lose him on a free transfer when his contract expires next year.
Manchester City's new midfield signing Yaya Toure says that one day he would like to return to Barcelona, the club he just left to join City on a reported £200,000-a-week contract.
West Ham's pursuit of 18-year-old Santos forward Neymar has got the thumbs up from the player's father. "He would adapt there for a while and would later reach a big team in a short space of time," said Neymar Silva.

All will be forgotten by the time the Prem kicks off. I think Rooney was an unfortunate casualty of a divided locker room. You have Douche bags like Terry and Cole on one side causing problems and everyone else gets sucked in. If neither of those ever wear the shirt again it wouldnt bother me in the least.

I honestly think they should have a major clearout of some of these trouble makers on the National team. Everyone tried to sweep the Terry scandal under the rug, but I dont think he ever got over losing the captaincy and thus caused all kinds of problems.

I forget which commentator said it, but he was absolutely spot-on about the EPL being too dependent on foreign talent. It definitely stifles the growth of English talent. That is being displayed by the lack of depth which cost England yet another run at the Cup.
