THE NBA Finals Thread - Lakers vs. Celtics
#728
Saw this posted on another forum... Seriously dude? Makes me appreciate the members of this forums and specifically this thread
...STERN EFFECT... Yes the Celtics looked "off" but fouls, and quality of shots were not a problem, actually Boston missed 5 or 6 gimme layups/dunks
"This is the most one sided game I've seen yet.. Effort, fouls, turnovers, quality shots(or lack thereof), everything. This Boston team looks like they've been told to lose and go to a game 7(the Stern effect?).
Edit: 31 points in a half of a NBA Finals game? F'ing ugly.
End of game Edit: F'ugly"
I for one 100% thought that calls might go LA's way last night, but until it got ugly and Boston started making really uncontrolled swipes at the ball and body fouls(out of frustration which i can understand), the game was called PERFECT! Only 9 Free Throw attempts in the 1st half (6LA 3 Bos).. I just hope they let them play tomorrow night!

"The Stern Effect" has been a popular conspiracy theory for quite some time now. I find it hard to believe that fierce competitors like Garnett, Allen, Pierce, Rondo would purposely tank a game to create a game 7 at the direction/orders of the league commissioner. Sometimes teams have an off night, and one sided games happen. Look at game 6 from the 2008 finals.
I think its safe to say that game 7 will be a fierce battle between two outstanding teams. I have to think that the momentum is now back with the Lakers, especially playing at home. The whole "flip the switch in the playoffs" thing has its merits, like resting stars so they are fresh come playoff time. However, the value of the home court in this situation cannot be underestimated, especially in a game 7 for all the marbles.
If the Celts lose, I wonder if Doc is going to let his team coast to 50 victories next season, or if he will press for the best record in the league.
