changing the subject just a little
Barcelona Defender Dani Alves: Comparing Cristiano Ronaldo To Lionel Messi Is Ridiculous
Barcelona defender Daniel Alves has declared that it would be "ridiculous" to compare Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo to his team-mate Lionel Messi.
"Whoever tries to make the comparison is to be ridiculed. Cristiano is a great player but nobody can compare to his [Messi's] level, his motivation," the 26-year-old full back is quoted as saying by El Mundo Deportivo.
The Brazilian defender also stated that he believes that the Blaugrana, while not as spectacular as last term, are a better team this season.
"Maybe not as bright as last season but we're better. This year we have fewer defects. Perhaps we haven't won 20 games 3-0 or 4-0 but we are much better. We must also take into account that teams are more prepared this year to be measured against us," he noted before praising the words of coach Pep Guardiola as a vital ingredient in keeping the team grounded.
""Barca is a team that works very hard and the great merit he [Guardiola] has is that people still believe in him. Guardiola's word is the most important part of our team. That's what maintains the intensity and the pressure not to get sidetracked."
