Nomar Garciaparra Signs One-Day Deal To Retire With Red Sox

I always like to see this.

I admired Nomar and thought he would be a sure-thing Hall of Famer.

But then his body - and to some extent his motivation - seemed to fail him.

I saw a game that he played with the Red Sox against the Angels where he had 2 HRs 2 Doubles and 1 Triple. He just crushed the ball everytime he came to the plate.

He signed my son's baseball before that game and was very gracious.

Although I have no love lost for the Red Sox, I wish Nomar the best in his new endeavors.

Nomaaaaaah. What a great short-stop, it was heart breaking when he got traded. Glad he is going to retire as a red sock.

Was a fan of Nomar as well. Find it interesting that he avoided a lot of the steriod discussions.

Me too. His injury streak seemed very fishy. But so was Griffey's and he hasn't been implicated either.

Good point but I never felt like Griffey got bigger overnight or had an unatural look as he matured..Remember Nomar's SI cover?
