London's Crystal Palace football club -- worth seeing?

Got this in email today:

PROFESSIONAL SOCCER IS COMING TO REGENCY FURNITURE STADIUM ON JULY 13!

The Charles County Commissioners, in conjunction with the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs minor league baseball team have announced that Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf has been selected to host one of two 2009 exhibition matches to be played in the United States by London England’s Crystal Palace Football Club. The match will be played Monday evening, July 13 at 8 p.m. against Crystal Palace Baltimore, the U.S. based affiliate of the parent club, and will be televised nationally by Fox Soccer Channel, part of the Fox Sports Network.

Is this worth going to see? I don't follow football/soccer much at all.

Ha ha so harsh.... Palace was in the Premier League (the top British division) a few years ago. They will suck compared to the big teams, but they would still probably beat teams like DC United. If you can go, why not?

You people have clearly never heard of the footballing god that is Matt Lawrence.

His appearance alone will put 5,000+ on the gate.

I bet your gutted its virtually sold out and you petrol heads have missed out on seeing a footballing giant , the Mighty Eagles of South London, never mind you can go back to comparing oil filters now.

LOL

Though our stadium only seats 4200 not including the lawn seats out in right field. 5000+ at the gates would make Brooks Robinson very happy indeed.

5,000 out of the expected 45,000 is not bad going for just one player,ML's fan club follow him all over the world.

Well I'll leave you to judge for yourself,if there are any tickets left.

Shame though.

Gobbles, you should recheck the stadium details, apparently they are bringing in 2 massive temporary stands due to overwheming public demand from ex-pats in the US and fans coming from England.

Lawrence is quite a draw, you may have heard of Beckham but ML makes Beckham look like a ,as was mentioned previously, a ten year old girl.
